Subsequently displayed as a wall hanging, The Last Rose of Summer was exhibited in Deerfield's summer exhibitions as the panel for a screen. Designed by Ellen Miller, The Last Rose of Summer was offered in the 1908 and 1909 exhibitions for $25. This panel features stylized vines in the form of large scrolling curves which rise above waves of outward curving grass, an iris and acanthus leaves. A single rose bloom, emerging from the center of the symmetrical vine, gives the piece its title.
