Nationally-acclaimed pictorial photographers Frances and Mary Allen lived and worked in Deerfield their entire lives. Renowned for the 'soft focus' of their ethereal platinum prints, their photographs were instrumental in heightening rural Deerfield's image as a place that was palpably and enticingly tied to its past. Through the photographic efforts of the Allen sisters the people, places, events and objects important to the Deerfield Arts and Crafts were carefully recorded.
