A review of Chauncey Thomas' pottery

Read Aloud

The pottery of Mr. Thomas has already been noticed at length in the Gazette and Courier. His showing during the past week has attracted favorable notice which is well merited. As we come to know his work better we are able to discern his general direction towards mat color in beautiful softness and richness of tone, and a style of design which is reserved and simple and delightfully true to the best traditions of the craft. Deerfield crafts distinctly need the sort of influence which Mr. Thomas will bring. The distinction between the trained craftsman and the untrained amateur is wide, and nothing can bridge the interval. Mr. Thomas came with a reputation for training and the quality of his work amply justified the advance notice.
