Dragonfly Weaving

Dragonfly Weaving

One can sense the refinement of Jane Hawks' weaving and design skills through Frances and Mary Allen's photograph of her linen table cover bordered with rows of delicate, hovering dragonflies.

Jane Hawks was regularly recognized as one of Deerfield's most talented weavers and basket makers. She moved to Deerfield in 1896, and was an active member of Deerfield Industries from 1901 to 1912. She displayed her work in her 18th-century Deerfield home known as the Sheldon House.
